Simon is not that keen but Jeanne wants to honour their mother’s last wish and her quest leads her to the Middle East where the story begins. This is the Middle East of the 1970’s and the director explores any violence full on and doesn’t shirk or spare the audience.
The tale is told through flashback and we are jumping back through time to piece together the twin’s present selves and it’s worth every minute of the two hour this gem lasts. Incendies encapsulates the Middle East of the 70’s, hatred, wars, religious divisions but above all else love. The performances by all concerned are nothing short of outstanding and the finale – when it comes – is both shocking and subtle.
This is an adult film for adult film lovers. Enjoy.[amazon_image id=”B0051GALJI” link=”true” target=”_blank” size=”medium” ]Incendies [DVD][/amazon_image]
